The Master’s Degree Course in History and Civilisations trains specialists in the research and dissemination of historical knowledge, and in teaching. The course offers a highly specialized study programme covering the various dimensions of history: cultural, political, economic, social, religious, including the gender perspective. The study programme provides specialized training on the connections between history and civilisations, offering a solid understanding of the origins and characteristics of Euro-Mediterranean civilisation during the medieval period, with a progressive broadening of horizons from the Mediterranean and Europe to non-European countries. The course also offers an in-depth study of the main research methodologies and techniques for interpreting historical sources, in line with the standards of international historiography.   Students have access to a wide range of subjects, including specific classes dedicated to the teaching of history, geography and philosophy and subjects that allow for an in-depth study of historical sources.

Per l'accesso è richiesta una buona conoscenza dei principali processi storici dal Medioevo all'età contemporanea, comprovata dal possesso di una Laurea in Storia (classe L-42), o comunque dal conseguimento di almeno 24 CFU in almeno due dei seguenti SSD: M-STO/01 (storia medievale), M-STO/02 (storia moderna), M-STO/04 (storia contemporanea), nonché di almeno 12 CFU nel settore L-FIL-LET oppure nei settori SPS/05, SPS/13. SPS/14. È richiesta inoltre la conoscenza di una lingua straniera almeno al livello B-2. Le modalità di verifica di tali conoscenze e di assegnazione di eventuali obblighi formativi aggiuntivi sono specificate nel Regolamento Didattico.

La commissione didattica del Corso di Laurea Magistrale provvede a esaminare i titoli posseduti al momento dell'iscrizione al Corso di Laurea Magistrale, in ordine alla determinazione del possesso dei requisiti di accesso (quadro A3.a). In mancanza di essi, il Consiglio del Corso di Laurea Magistrale provvede ad individuare le attività formative necessarie per la loro acquisizione e lo studente è iscritto ai Corsi Singoli di Transizione. Solo dopo aver colmato i debiti formativi, si può formalizzare l'iscrizione al Corso di Laurea Magistrale. Se il totale dei CFU relativi alle attività formative da acquisire è maggiore di 40, l'immatricolazione al Corso di Laurea Magistrale non è consentita. L'iscrizione alla laurea magistrale può essere condizionata all'accettazione di specifiche prescrizioni, consistenti in un piano di studi personalizzato per armonizzare le proprie competenze con il percorso prescelto.
