Collaborating with the university

For companies, institutions and organisations wishing to develop new products, services, processes, organisarional models o technological solutions, various forms of collaboration can be activated, tailored to specific needs and to the level of maturity of the innovation, including:

• Scientific consultancy and commissioned research for feasibility studies, technological validation and the development of applied solutions;
• Joint research projects, including co-funded initiatives, aimed at participating in regional, national and European calls;
• Access to facilities of excellence, including specialised laboratories, digital platforms and advanced computing resources;
• Joint university–organisation/company laboratories for the co-design of technologies and solutions transferable to production, cultural and institutional contexts;
• Continuing education and professional development, including upskilling and reskilling programmes for the staff of companies, institutions and organisations.

Framework Agreements enable the establishment of medium- to long-term strategic collaborations with the University of Pisa in the scientific, technological, cultural, social and organisational fields, creating a stable framework for the development of joint initiatives in areas such as:

• Research and innovation
• PhD programmes
• Joint laboratories
• Education and career placement
• Continuing education and professional development

These agreements regulate the management and valorisation of intellectual and industrial property rights that may arise from joint activities, establishing a stable and shared framework for collaboration.

The University of Pisa supports companies and organisations in identifying and addressing their innovation needs by facilitating access to and enhancing of qualified, multidisciplinary expertise through:

• Competence scouting, to identify relevant scientific expertise, technologies, patents and research groups in support of open innovation strategies and the development of new products or processes;
• PhD programmes and the placement of doctoral candidates within companies, for the joint development of research projects on strategic topics, fostering the transfer of skills and technologies and attracting highly qualified talent;

Hackathons and innovation challenges, aimed at students, doctoral candidates and researchers, to rapidly explore innovative solutions, test ideas and emerging technologies, and identify new talent. Fee schedule link
