For years, the University of Pisa has fostered a structured collaboration between academia and the productive sector, promoting doctoral programmes that integrate advanced education, applied research, and professional development. Through various modalities—ranging from industrial PhDs to apprenticeship-based doctoral programmes aimed at obtaining the degree—the University supports joint projects that address the innovation needs of companies while enhancing the skills of doctoral candidates.
Companies may also establish specific agreements with the University of Pisa, thereby offering opportunities for growth and specialization within corporate career paths.
These options are complemented by the INPA doctoral programme (Innovation for Public Administration), designed to strengthen research, design, and innovation management capabilities within the public sector.
Thanks to these flexible and integrated instruments, the University of Pisa fosters continuous dialogue between research and the world of work, contributing to the training of highly qualified professionals capable of leading complex processes and supporting organizational competitiveness.
Public and private entities may fund a doctoral grant for PhD programmes, with the option of proposing a specific research topic.
Interested parties must contact the Coordinator of the PhD programme they intend to support. The proposed funding and any associated research topic must be approved either by resolution of the PhD Programme Board or, where necessary, by an urgent order issued by the Coordinator.
