Innovation
We collaborate with industry and society to expand the frontiers of knowledge and drive cultural, social, and economic impact nationwide

Universities and businesses

The University of Pisa supports businesses, institutions and organisations in developing innovation, skills and new growth opportunities.

The University provides scientific and cultural expertise, research infrastructure and talent, while ensuring the protection of know-how and intellectual property.

From research to the market

The knowledge generated in laboratories and research groups is transformed into concrete solutions, such as innovative services, technologies, patents and new businesses.

Transfer to the market is not merely an economic objective; it is part of a broader process of the University’s active participation in regional development.

Events and Networking

The interplay between research, industry, and society is a vital engine of innovation. UNIPI actively cultivates this dialogue through structured initiatives such as Converging Skills and Innovation Lunches, as well as through opportunities enabled by our vibrant Alumni community.

Entrepreneurial Culture

Innovation is also driven by cultivating an entrepreneurial culture—one that enables knowledge to flow seamlessly between academia and industry.

To support this vision, the University of Pisa has launched the course “Startup and Multidisciplinarity: A Roadmap”and established the Contamination Lab—spaces designed to spark creativity, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and equip the academic community with entrepreneurial skills.

Business Acceleration: Start Attractor

Transforming knowledge into impact also means fostering innovative enterprises born from research. UNIPI actively promotes an entrepreneurial mindset through concrete initiatives that support the creation and growth of early-stage ventures.

Start Attractor, launched in collaboration with local institutions and leading industrial partners, guides promising ideas from the lab to the market—empowering researchers and innovators to turn their visions into reality.
