By Rector’s Decree No. 1681/2025 of October 28, 2025, “ProArcheo 2025–2026—Call for Proposals for the Co-Funding of Archaeological and Geopaleontological Research at the University of Pisa” was issued.
This call for proposals will co-fund archaeological and geopaleontological research (excavations, surveys, and studies of artifacts) in Italy or abroad—whether already underway or newly initiated—that is also co-funded by an external entity, whether public or private.
Eligible applicants for this call are tenured and non-tenured professors and researchers at the University of Pisa.
The following may be part of the research team: professors, researchers, research fellows, research contract holders, postdoctoral fellows, research position holders, doctoral students, medical residents, students, and technical staff from the University of Pisa and other Italian or foreign universities or research institutions.
The call for proposals provides for a budget of 110,000.00 euros, of which 30,000.00 euros are allocated for the 2025 procedure and 80,000.00 euros for the 2026 procedure.
The call for proposals is divided into two distinct application options: the 2025 round, for activities carried out by December 31, 2025, or otherwise pertaining to the year 2025; and the 2026 round, for activities carried out by December 31, 2026. There are no restrictions on applying to both rounds.
Co-funding for each project by the University of Pisa may not exceed 5,000.00 euros for grants awarded in 2025 and 10,000.00 euros for grants awarded in 2026; in any case, it may not exceed the amount of co-funding provided by the external entity.
Applications for co-funding may only be submitted by completing the forms available at the following links, within the timeframes specified in the call for applications, using your University credentials:
