The degree course educates the future veterinarians, providing the scientific knowledge, methodological foundations, and technical-practical skills necessary for the practice of the profession.  The professional figure of the veterinary doctor is essential for the care of animals and the protection of their well-being, in a context that respects environmental sustainability, public health, and food safety, always putting community service at the forefront. The course spans 5 years and covers disciplines such as:Physics, anatomy, biochemistry, genetics and physiology;
  • Animal husbandry and nutrition;
  • General pathology, pathological anatomy, infectious and parasitic diseases, inspection of food of animal origin;
  • Pharmacology, clinical medicine, laboratory and imaging diagnostics,
  • Obstetrics clinic, surgical clinic, anaesthesiology.
The degree course in Veterinary Medicine requires compulsory attendance and qualifies for the practice of the veterinary profession.

I Requisiti e le modalità di accesso al corso di Laurea Magistrale abilitante a ciclo unico in Medicina Veterinaria sono disciplinati da Leggi e Normative Ministeriali in ambito nazionale. Per essere ammessi al Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Medicina Veterinaria occorre essere in possesso di un diploma di scuola secondaria di secondo grado di durata quinquennale o di altro titolo di studio conseguito all'estero, riconosciuto idoneo ai sensi delle leggi vigenti. Le conoscenze minime richieste corrispondono a quelle di capacità di ragionamento logico e conoscenze di biologia, chimica, fisica, matematica come fornite dalle scuole secondarie di secondo grado, come specificato nel Decreto Ministeriale relativo alle modalità e contenuti delle prove di ammissione al Corso di Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico in medicina veterinaria.
Agli studenti che, pur essendo stati ammessi al Corso, hanno ottenuto in una o più prove concorsuali una votazione inferiore a una prefissata soglia minima, saranno assegnati obblighi formativi aggiuntivi, con le modalità indicate nel Regolamento Didattico del Corso di Studio.

I Requisiti e le modalità di accesso al corso di Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico in Medicina Veterinaria sono disciplinati da Leggi e Normative Ministeriali in ambito nazionale.
Il Corso di Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico in Medicina Veterinaria è a numero programmato a livello nazionale, normato annualmente da decreto del Ministero Università e Ricerca (MUR).
Il numero di studenti iscrivibili (assegnati a ogni sede) e le modalità di svolgimento della selezione sono resi pubblici ogni anno con relativo bando.
Per essere ammessi al Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Medicina Veterinaria occorre essere in possesso di un diploma di scuola secondaria superiore di durata quinquennale o di altro titolo di studio conseguito all'estero, riconosciuto idoneo ai sensi delle leggi vigenti. Le conoscenze minime richieste corrispondono a quelle impartite nei corsi della scuola secondaria superiore a indirizzo scientifico per le discipline di biologia, chimica, fisica, matematica.
Inoltre, per avere la possibilità di essere ammesso al Corso, lo studente dovrà essere in possesso di adeguate abilità analitiche
come specificato nel Decreto Ministeriale relativo alle modalità e contenuti delle prove di ammissione al Corso di Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico in medicina veterinaria.
L'ammissione al CdL in Medicina Veterinaria avviene a seguito di superamento di apposita prova d'esame c.d. “TOLC” (Test OnLine CISIA) e di partecipazione al procedimento di formazione delle graduatorie nazionali di accesso ai corsi a numero programmato, tramite l'utilizzo dei punteggi ottenuti ai TOLC.
Agli studenti che, pur essendo stati ammessi al Corso, hanno ottenuto nella prova concorsuale di Biologia una votazione inferiore a 1/3 del punteggio massimo ottenibile, sarà assegnato un obbligo formativo aggiuntivo (OFA) che dovrà essere assolto entro il primo anno accademico. L'iscrizione agli esami relativi alle attività formative degli anni successivi al primo è subordinata a tale assolvimento.
Gli studenti ai quali è stato attribuito l'OFA saranno tenuti a seguire il corso di recupero online di Biologia offerto dal CdS. Lo studente dopo aver seguito il corso di recupero online dovrà sostenere un test scritto a risposta multipla che sarà considerato superato al raggiungimento del 70% di risposte esatte. Il test sarà erogato almeno due volte in ogni anno accademico. Il superamento del test comporterà l'assolvimento dell'OFA.

Career opportunities

Graduates in Veterinary Medicine can find employment as clinicians for pets or livestock, including less conventional animals such as exotic, laboratory, and wild animals.They can also work as veterinary doctors in the National Health Service or in other institutions, including in research-related roles. Veterinary doctors can also find professional opportunities in the sector of feed, pharmaceutical, and food companies, as well as participating in quality projects or certification of production chains.

Enrolment

The Degree Program in Veterinary Medicine has a limited access. In order to enroll, students must pass a selection procedure. The call for the academic year 2024/2025 has been published. PLEASE NOTE: to participate to one or both admission selections you have to register on the Universitaly portal (www.universitaly.it) from the 3rd of April 2024 until the 17th of April 2024, H. 15.00. After the application on the Universitaly portal, it is necessary to register on the Alice portal and apply for the admission selection from the same portal. At the end of the procedure it is necessary to pay the admission fee available in the Fee section on the Alice portal.

Having acknowledged that at the date of issue of this notice, the relative ministerial decree for the planning of places for access to the single-cycle master’s degree courses in Medicine and Surgery and in Dentistry and Dental Prosthesis has not been adopted, the provisional places determined by the University of Pisa with the express reservation of confirmation or modification of the same following the publication of the aforementioned Ministerial Decree. The definitive determination of places will be communicated with a subsequent decree. The provisional places available in the 1st year are as follows: 66 places for EU and equated non EU citizens (provisional) 4 places for non EU citizens residing abroad and applying for VISA (2 reserved to Marco Polo Project candidates)

There will be two section admission selections – tests will be in presence at the university:
  • Wednesday 29th of may 2024

  • Wednesday 31st of july 2024

Candidates can participate to one or both admission section selections.

Candidates can sign up to admission selection following this procedure: 1) register on the admission selection from the Universitaly portal (www.universitaly.it).  Candidates can register for one or both tests from the 3rd of april 2024 until the 17th of april 2024. Preferences can be modified until the 17th of april 2024 H. 15.00. Each candidate must take the admission test in the University nearest to the domicile/residence address. Here the details. Non-Eu candidates applying for a visa must take the admission test in the University where they wish to enroll.   2) register in the University portal Alice and apply for the admission selection. It is possible to apply for the first session selection from the 3rd of april 2024 until the 22nd of april 2024, H. 12.00 a.m. It is possible to apply to the admission selection on the Alice portal only after the registration on the University portal. On the Alice portal, application for the second session selection will start from the 29th of april 2024 until the 24th july 2024 h. 12.00. Admission fee must be paid within the 24th of July 2024.   3) pay the 60 euros admission fee within the 22nd of april 2024 h. 12.00 a.m. for the first session selection. The admission fee can be found in the “Fee section” on the Alice portal.

Admission fee is 60 euros for each admission session. At the end of the application, you can find the admission fee in the Fee section on the Alice portal. For the first session selection, deadline to pay the admission fee is the 22nd of April 2024, h. 12.00 a.m. Candidates that do not pay the admission fee, will not be allow to participate to the admission test. The fee is not refoundable in any case.

Place:  to define The test is written and it is the same for each candidate. The admission test is divided into n. 60 questions, which present 5 answer options, among which the candidate must identify only one, discarding the wrong, arbitrary or less probable conclusions. The questions are divided as follows: – four (4) questions on text Comprehension and knowledge acquired in studies; – five (5) questions on logical reasoning and problems; – nineteen (19) questions on Biology; – nineteen (19) questions on Chemistry; – thirteen (13) questions on Physics and Mathematics . The questions of the admission test will be extracted from a specific database also containing the correct answer. Th database with 7.000 questions will be available on this page: https://accessoprogrammato.mur.gov.it/2024/, – 3500 questions will be available 20 days before the 28th of may 2024; – 3500 questions will be available 20 days before the 30th of july 2024. Questions will be evaluated as follows: • 1,5 points for each correct answer; • minus 0,4 (- 0,4) points for each wrong answer; • 0 point for each non given answer. The test lasts 100 minutes.

From the 29th of July to the 2nd of  Septemebr 2024 h. 15.00, EU and equated non EU citizens can apply for inclusion in the national ranking on the Cineca website. When applying for inclusion in the national ranking, candidates may indicate their preferences relating to the universities of enrolment. Only students who have obtained a high school diploma or who will achieve it by 31/12/2024 can apply for inclusion in the national ranking. The ranking will be published on the 10th of September 2024 on the Cineca website for EU and equated non EU citizens. The ranking will be published on the Matricolandosi portal for non EU citizens applying for a Visa.
