A manager with a background in the multi-utility sector (companies providing public services of economic interest), he has gained many years of diverse experience—as an executive, head of complex organizational structures, and program manager for industrial initiatives in the private sector—within major listed Italian groups, mixed public-private ownership companies, and in-house companies of local authorities.
Since March 2021, he has held the position of General Director of the University of Pisa.
Born in Palermo and raised in La Spezia, he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Palermo in 1991. After serving as a reserve officer in the Italian Navy, he began his professional career in the oil and refining sector.
He went on to hold a series of increasingly responsible positions in public service companies. Among the most significant, Rosario Di Bartolo served as Chief Executive Officer of ACAM Gas SpA from 2008 to 2013 and later as Chief Operating Officer of the parent company ACAM SpA, where he played a key role in a challenging process of recovery and reorganization, successfully completed in 2018.
From 2018 to February 2021, he was a manager at the IREN Group. During this time, he also worked as a program and project manager for strategic initiatives in empowerment and digital transformation, and served as Chief Executive Officer of ASA SpA, a public utility company based in Livorno, from July 2020.
