Research grants and fellowships

The procedure for requesting research clearance also applies to legally resident non-EU citizens holding a residence permit for “study” who have been awarded a research grant or fellowship from the University.

Before starting the research activity envisaged in the call for proposals, and especially before receiving the grant, the relevant Department must follow the instructions for obtaining the research clearance issued by the SUI (Servizio Unico Immigrazione c/o the Prefecture).
After the clearance has been issued, the non-EU researcher must apply to convert their residence permit from “study” to “research”.
The scholar can start the research activity and therefore obtain the grant only after applying for the conversion of the residence permit.

If the researcher holds other types of residence permits, please contact the Office staff at the address permessodisoggiorno@unipi.it.
