We promote the dissemination of knowledge and support social transformation, contributing to the progress of both the community and the region
The Inclusive University Manifesto was promoted in 2019 by UNHCR, ONU Refugee Agency, to support the admission of refugees to university education and research, promoting social integration and active participation in academic life.
The universities and research centres that signed the Manifesto, 55 so far, actively work to adopt concrete measures for inclusion, ensuring broader access to university for people forced to flee, on the basis of shared objectives and guiding principles: equality and non-discrimination, hospitality, knowledge, integration, appreciation of differences, and participation.
The Manifesto also establishes measures to guide and protect students in the various stages of their university career:
The University of Pisa formally joined the initiative in 2019, considering the cultural, practical and intellectual experiences of refugee students and scholars as resources for the social, cultural and economic development of society.
Within the framework of the Manifesto, the University of Pisa has been involved in the University corridors for refugees (UNICORE) project promoted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) since 2020.
