Inclinados hacia América Latina is a a project created to promote the University of Pisa in the Latin American continent and to facilitate the reception of Latin American citizens interested in the second-level educational offer of the University, through the provision of a scholarship

Who can apply for the scholarship

Exclusively Latin American nationals with a university degree compatible with the academic offer of the University of Pisa.

Study programmes eligible for the scholarship

Bachelor’s Degree in Management for Business and Economics, in English, duration 3 years.

The scholarship includes:

• exemption from tuition fees for four years
• free canteen service (one meal per day from Monday to Friday) for the duration of the tuition fee exemption

Application requirements:

• secondary school diploma involving at least 12 years of education
• certificate stating that the applicant has passed the admission test

Master’s Degree in different fields, duration 2 years, in Italian and English.

The scholarship includes:

• exemption from tuition fees for three years
• free canteen service (one meal per day from Monday to Friday) for the duration of the tuition fee exemption

Application requirements

for Italian-language programmes: select the degree course and check the admission requirements.

Previous university studies must be compatible with the academic requirements of the University of Pisa.

For a pre-evaluation, please send the following documents to belkis.hernandez@unipi.it :

• a photocopy of the degree diploma
• a photocopy of the passport
• exam certificate and/or university academic record
• B2 Italian language certificate

Non-EU citizens residing abroad who wish to enrol at the University of Pisa for the academic year 2024-2025 must complete the ministerial pre-enrolment through the UniversItaly portal.

The project Mobility CONFAP-ITALY (MCI II) aims to facilitate and support effective collaboration between CONFAP (Conselho Nacional das Fundações de Amparo à Pesquisa) and the Italian Network for Scientific and Technological Cooperation and Innovation, through mobility between Italy and Brazil of PhD students, postgraduate degree students (Mestrado students, for thesis research) and post-doc students.

Currently, the Italian Network includes 22 universities and a research centre, all working in collaboration with CONFAP. The University of Bologna is the coordinating partner of the Italian Network.

To participate, applicants must reside in Brazil. Those who already live or study in Europe will not be admitted.

How to apply

Opportunities with Italian universities that are part of the Network are published on the MCI website. For information on further research collaborations, you can directly contact the MCI Network.

Brazilian State Funding Agencies (FAPs) may require proposals to be submitted on their platform as well: applicants should check directly with their FAP.

For the 2025 call applications must be submitted by 25 April 2025, through the CONFAP platform.

Brazilian applicants must upload the following documents:

• research project (there is no predefined form)
• curriculum vitae of the Brazilian candidate
• curriculum vitae of the supervisor in Italy
• letter of support signed by the supervisor at the University in Italy

Brazilian State Funding Agencies may ask for additional requirements require and for proposals to be submitted on their platform as well: applicants should check directly with their FAP.

Please note that the acceptance of candidates will follow the Italian academic year.

Selection Criteria

All applications will be evaluated through a peer review process conducted by each of the participating FAPs, according to the following criteria:

• the quality of the proposed research project
• academic performance and specific requirements indicated by the participating FAPs
• the academic performance of the supervisor at the host institution
• the track record of the applicants and the host organisation in the proposed research field
• the potential advantages for the applicant’s career development
• each participating FAP can announce its specific selection criteria in their respective Guidelines or in the guidance provided for this call.

Research fields

All the disciplinary areas of the university: Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Medicine and Pharmacy, Legal, Economic and Social Sciences, Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences.

Language

The language proficiency level required for each individual mobility will be published in the academic offer. In most cases, English will be the required language.

Services offered by the University of Pisa:

• personalised welcome by the Welcome Office
• access to libraries, study rooms and laboratories
• Italian language courses at the Language Centre (CLI) at subsidised fees
• canteen service at subsidised fees
• Free access to the university Wi-Fi network

Obligations of scholarship holders

They must comply with the legal requirements related to visa, residence permit and health insurance.

The scholarship includes:

• Sandwich PhD students, post-doctoral students and Mestrado students will not pay any fees during the mobility period
• The full PhD student, beneficiary of the three-year grant obtained from FAP, will be exempt from paying annual university fees and the regional tax.
