The Marco Polo Project is an agreement between the Chinese and Italian governments to facilitate the reception of Chinese students at Italian universities.
Detailed information on pre-enrolment procedures and deadlines are available in the dedicated section of the UniversItaly portal.
Chinese students who, following pre-enrolment, need to attend an Italian language course must remember that:
- the duration of the course cannot be less than 10 months
- the monthly number of hours should preferably be between 80 and 100, to ensure constant and daily exposure to the Italian language
- the goal is to reach the initial B1 level, with gradual improvement of language skills in the following years.
Students must indicate in their application on the UniversItaly Portal:
- the chosen University for enrolling in the degree course
- the university seat they are interested in for attending the Italian language course, which can also be conducted remotely, specifying the duration of the course of 10 or 11 months.
In addition to the documentation normally required from foreign nationals, Marco Polo students must also present, at the time of enrolment, a certificate of at least a B1 level of Italian language proficiency obtained in Italy.
To enrol in a Master’s Degree Course, they must also submit:
- a certificate from the foreign university showing all the exams passed to obtain the academic degree, translated into Italian
- the syllabuses (on the letterhead of the foreign university or with the stamp of the university itself) of the exams in the certificate (with an official translation into Italian).
