Diploma Supplement

The Diploma Supplement is a document accompanying a higher education qualification that is awarded at the end of a university degree course or other higher education programme.

It provides, according to a standardised model, a detailed description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies completed by each student.

The Diploma Supplement was developed as part of a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES, with the aim of overcoming the obstacles that hinder full value and recognition of academic qualifications.

It facilitates the evaluation of study programmes and promotes the international mobility of students and graduates. The Supplement contains only official data relating to the student’s academic career and excludes any subjective evaluations, statements of equivalence or recommendations on recognition. Its purpose is to make qualifications more transparent by providing a detailed description of the actual study programme completed, thereby simplifying the academic and professional recognition of Italian qualifications abroad and promoting the international mobility of graduates.

All students at the University of Pisa who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree and/or a Master’s degree are entitled to receive their Diploma Supplement free of charge, in both Italian and English, by:
