The Winter School is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the European Union’s role in shaping and sustaining a rules-based multilateral order through the promotion of its core values.
The programme is developed within the framework of the Centre of Excellence EU4GlobalOrder, which advances teaching, research, and public engagement on how the Union, by promoting its values within the EU, but also in the wider world, contributes to the development of, and respect for, international law, in particular by promoting sustainable development and the reform of the multilateral system to make it more inclusive and effective.
In line with Article 3(5) TEU, the Winter School focuses on the Union’s obligation to promote its values in its relations with the wider world. The Winter School analyses the EU’s external relations as a key driver of multilateralism and explores their role in reinforcing a fair and rules-based international order.
The Winter School is addressed to undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers, university professors, secondary school teachers, lawyers, trade unionists, civil servants, politicians, and officers of international organizations.
It aims to provide methodological tools and analytical skills for in-depth study, while fostering academic exchange and critical discussion among participants from diverse backgrounds.
The programme takes place over four days (1–4 February 2027), on campus and online, and consists of 32 hours of activities delivered in English. It combines face-to-face lectures with interactive sessions and small-group work. A Moot Court competition is included as a key learning-by-doing component, enabling participants to apply theoretical knowledge to practical and procedural scenarios related to EU external action and international dispute settlement.
Participants who attend at least 90% of the lectures and complete the planned activities will be awarded 3 ECTS credits.
The Summer School will be activated with at least 10 students. The maximum number of participants is set to 100 students.
The Summer School will be held on campus, in Pisa, at Palazzo della Sapienza, Aula VI, Via Curtatone e Montanara, 15.
The program will be activated also in distance learning mode (TEAMS platform).
The Winter School is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the European Union’s role in fostering a fair, rules-based multilateral order. Through an interdisciplinary and interactive approach, the programme equips participants with methodological tools, practical skills, and avenues for further study that can support both their academic development and professional careers. The Winter School will thus open a structured dialogue with the academic world and will provide a platform for study, discussion and information exchange.
The Winter School is open to a wide range of participants: university professors, post-doc researchers, PhD candidates, undergraduate and postgraduate students, high-school teachers, practitioners such as lawyers, trade unionists, public officers, policy makers, international organizations officers. The Winter School is also open to students and professionals interested in the matter who have never had the chance to study European Union Law.
The Summer School is open to:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- PhD students and post-doctoral researchers;
- university professors;
- secondary school teachers;
- lawyers, trade unionists, civil servants, politicians and international organizations officers.

REFUND POLICY:
Tuition fees are non-refundable.
Tuition fees will be refunded only if the Summer School does not reach the minimum number of participants and therefore the course is not activated.
