The degree course in Geology is held in the city of Tashkent in Uzbekistan and is delivered in English.
It trains professionals with skills in thematic cartography, laboratory research and characterisation of geomaterials, as well as exploration methods for energy, mining and water georesources.  Furthermore, it develops skills to collaborate effectively on projects related to geological and environmental risk protection.
The course is divided into lectures, laboratory and practical activities, through which students gain experience in collecting, analysing and synthesising a wide range of geological field and laboratory data.
In addition to providing a solid theoretical and methodological foundation, the degree course ensures that graduates acquire strong practical skills in the field of georesource research, along with the ability to assess geological/environmental risks and possible strategies for their mitigation.
The course is divided into two curricula:
    Solid Earth
    Environmental Geology

Possession of a secondary school diploma or other equivalent qualification obtained abroad after at least twelve years of schooling, provided that it is recognised as suitable. Since the Uzbek school system includes eleven years of schooling, Uzbek students must acquire basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, English and the fundamentals of geology to access the degree course by attending and successfully completing a Preparatory Year, specifically provided by the University of Pisa in collaboration with the University of Geological Sciences of Uzbekistan (UGS). In any case, in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Academic Regulations of the degree course, an assessment of the students’ initial knowledge will be carried out. Should the outcome be negative, specific additional educational requirements will be assigned.

To enrol in the degree course in Geology, proficient knowledge of English at least at level B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, is also required.

In order to access the course, students must have attended and successfully completed the Preparatory Year (or corresponding annual course) mentioned in table A3.a, or to have a secondary school diploma or other equivalent qualification obtained abroad after at least twelve years of schooling, provided that it is recognised as suitable. For students who have completed the Preparatory Year, the assessment of their initial knowledge will be carried out at the end of the academic year, and at the same time, their English language proficiency (level B2) will be assessed through a test or interview. Students who, even after successfully completing the Preparatory Year, have specific deficiencies in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry will be assigned additional educational requirements, which will be extinguished upon passing the relevant exams. Each year, the Degree Course organises educational activities to meet the additional learning requirements.

Students who enrol in the course without attending the Preparatory Year will need to take a test to verify their fundamental knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and basic geology. If the outcome reveals specific deficiencies in this knowledge, students will be assigned additional educational requirements as indicated above. Proficient knowledge of English (level B2) will be verified by an interview.
