Who is insured
The insurance is reserved for:
- the University of Pisa as the contracting authority;
- staff, director general and managers at all levels, members (including non-employees) of its institutional and academic bodies and/or organisations, and collaborators;
- students (meaning, by way of example and not as a limitation, subjects of any nationality who are regularly enrolled in degree courses, diploma courses, advanced training courses, specialisation schools, PhD courses, post-graduate degree courses, even those taking longer than expected to graduate; subjects required to undertake post-graduate traineeships/diplomas/doctoral degrees/post-graduate degrees; foreign students participating in EU projects during their activities, even when, on the basis of agreements and/or conventions, they travel to other universities, organisations or companies, or to third parties in general, in order to carry out research activities, internships, educational and orientation traineeships, educational visits, etc.);
- attending graduates;
- subjects engaged in educational, research and support activities organised or authorised by the University of Pisa in any capacity;
- those who, having completed their studies, are involved in educational or research activities organised or authorised by the University.
What is insured
The Company is required to indemnify the Insured for any amounts they are legally obligated to pay as compensation for damages involuntarily caused to third parties. This includes compensation for death, personal injury, and property damage resulting from accidental events related to the insured activity.
The insurance also covers the liability of the University of Pisa for the intentional acts of persons for whom it is responsible.
Insured activities
The guarantee applies to the execution of:
- institutional activities of the University or any activities carried out de facto and by any means deemed useful or necessary;
- activities carried out by Insured Persons pursuant to law, regulations or resolutions, including measures issued by their own bodies, through participation in Organisations or Consortia or using third parties or contractors/subcontractors;
- ancillary, complementary, associated and related activities, which precede and follow the main activities listed above.
The insurance also covers the liability of the Insured persons in their roles as clients, organizers, or other capacities, subject to the expressly mentioned exclusions.
The insurance also covers liabilities arising from the exercise of non-professional medical activities for all Insured persons, except for staff and students of medical specialty schools.
Area of application
The insurance applies worldwide.
What to do in the event of a claim
In the event of a claim for damages, please send the following documents immediately to davide.arduini@unipi.it:
- A copy of the claim;
- A description of the facts and of any other information that may be useful for assessing the responsibility of the University of Pisa in the events that have occurred.
