Guido Francesco Frate is a Type A Fixed-Term Researcher at the Department of Energy, Systems, Territory and Construction Engineering (DESTEC) at the University of Pisa. His research focuses on the integration of renewable energy sources into energy systems through innovative thermal energy storage technologies, particularly thermo-mechanical energy storage and power-to-heat-to-power systems. He earned his Ph.D. with a dissertation on the analysis of a heat pump-based electro-thermal energy storage system integrating low-temperature heat sources. His research interests also include the modeling and simulation of components for innovative power generation systems, the optimization of energy system management, and the development of energy efficiency solutions for both industrial and residential sectors. He has participated in national and international research projects, collaborating with academic and industrial partners. In 2022 and 2023, he conducted research abroad at the Centre for Energy Storage at the University of Birmingham and the Laboratory of Applied Thermodynamics at the University of Liège. His publications, which include more than 30 articles in scientific journals, are available on Google Scholar
