Laura Crocetti, MD, PhD, EBIR, is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Pisa; she works at the Division of Interventional Radiology of the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Pisana. She was awarded her medical degree “Cum Laude” by the Medical School of the University of Pisa in 1998, where she subsequently completed the residency program in Radiology. She was awarded her PhD in 2007. Dr Crocetti also holds the European Board in Interventional Radiology (EBIR) qualification.

Prof. Crocetti teaches at the University of Pisa at the Bachelor of Science of Sport Science and of Imaging Science and at the Residency School of Radiology. She is member of the Councils of the Master in Vascular Interventional Radiology and in Coordination of Organs and Tissue Procurement.

Prof.Crocetti’s research focuses on diagnostic imaging and interventional therapies for liver tumors. Her interests include computed tomography, magnetic resonance, and ablative as well as intra-arterial therapies for liver tumors. She has been an investigator in several experimental and clinical trials on new interventional techniques for tumor treatment and on novel approaches to cancer imaging.
Dr Crocetti is a fellow of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) and has been a member of the CIRSE Standard of Practice Committee. She is a fellow of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) and has been a board member of the Contrast Media Chapter of the Italian Society of Radiology. She is a co-author of the CIRSE guidelines for liver tumor ablation and is a member of the EBIR Examination Council.
She has been member of the “Education Exhibits Awards Committee (EEAC)” for the annual congress RSNA (Radiological Society of North America) in the years 2015 and 2016. In the four years period 2016-2019 she is member of the “Scientific program committee” of the annual congress of CIRSE (Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe). She also is member of the Scientific program committee” of the congress ECIO (European Conference on Interventional Oncology). She has been an invited lecturer in more than 100 international meetings, courses, or conferences.

Prof. Crocetti is an Associate Editor for the journals Radiology and Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology and member of the editorial board of Liver Cancer. She has served as a reviewer for numerous international journals, including Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Hepatology, The Lancet Oncology, Journal of Hepatology. She has authored or co-authored 62 articles in peer reviewed international journals, as well as several book chapters in textbooks of radiology, surgery and hepatology (total citations 3756; H-index 27 as per November 28, 2018)
