The Galileo Galilei International Prize of Italian Rotary Clubs ~ UNIPI

The Galileo Galilei International Prize of Italian Rotary Clubs was created in 1962 at the suggestion of Tristano Bolelli.

The Galileo Galilei International Prize was established to recognise foreign scholars who have made significant contributions to the field of Italian civilisation (archaeology and Etruscology, history of literature, language, political history, history of art, music, thought, science, law and economics). It was then set up as a foundation under the auspices of the University of Pisa and in 1982 received the high patronage of the President of the Republic.

Since 2006, the prize has also been awarded to an Italian scientist who has achieved international renown in their field of expertise.
The evaluation is conducted by a panel of distinguished Italian scholars in the humanities and international experts in the sciences.
