Marco Raugi received the degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pisa in 1985 and the Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Systems and Automation in 1990 where he is currently a full professor of Electrical Engineering.

He has been the delegate of the Engineering Faculty of the University of Pisa for the International relationships and Socrates-Erasmus programme. He is president of the Ph. D. programme in "Applied electromagnetics in electrical and biomedical engineering, electronics, smart sensors, nano-technologies ".

His research activity is in the numerical methods for the analysis of electromagnetic fields in linear and nonlinear media. Main applications have been devoted to Non Destructive Testing, Electromagnetic compatibility in transmission lines, electromagnetic launchers. More recently he has also investigated communication and computational intelligence problems in the electrical engineering field. He is author of more than 100 papers on international journals and conferences.

General chairman of the International conference PIERS (Progress In Electromagnetic Research Symposium) 28-31 Marzo 2004 in Pisa and of the IEEE ISPLC (International Symposium on PowerLine Communications) 2007 Symposium 26-28 Marzo Pisa. Chairman of the Editorial Board of the CEFC 2002 Conference, 16-19 June, Perugia, and member of the editorial board of international conferences (COMPUMAG, CEFC, EMC Zurigo, ISPLC). He served as chairman and session organizer of international conferences (COMPUMAG, CEFC, ISPLC and PIERS). Author of invited lectures at international conferences (AP-URSI and PIERS) and instructor of courses in the mainframe of international conferences (ACES).

He has been recipient of the IEEE-IndustryApplicationSociety 2002 Melcher Prize Paper Award.

He has been principal investigator at national level of the PRIN 2003 and PRIN 2007 research programs (financed by the Italian University Ministery MIUR), and main coordinator of Italian Bank Foundations (Caripi, CariLiv) projects, and of grants funded by ENI, GERG and some PMI Italian Companies
