DSU Scholarships

Students can apply for a scholarship from DSU, Azienda Regionale Diritto allo Studio Universitario.

Who can apply

All students who wish to enrol or are already enrolled in a degree course at the University of Pisa. Those who already hold an academic degree of the same level are excluded: for example, if you apply for a Master’s degree, you cannot receive the grant if you have already obtained a Master’s degree.

Submitting the application and the documents needed

To take part in the selection procedure, you must apply via the DSU Student Desk by the deadlines indicated in the call for applications published every year in July.

You can apply even if you are not yet enrolled at UNIPI.

The scholarship is valid for one academic year only. You must renew the scholarship every year.

If you have income abroad, to access DSU benefits (Study Grant, Service Grant, Disabled Student Contribution, Extraordinary Contribution, subsidised canteen fees, etc.), you must:

Students with EU citizenship are required to fill in specific documentation that can be downloaded at the end of the online procedure.

Student from non-UE developing countries must certify that they do not come from a prominently wealthy and socially elevated family. This certification must be issued by one of the following institutions:

Non-EU students from countries other than those listed above must present the following documentation, translated into Italian and legalised by the competent Italian Diplomatic Authorities in their country of residence, or in accordance with international legalisation provisions:

Request for a grant

The deadlines can be found in the notice of competition, which is published every year in July. For the academic year 2024/2025, the application deadline is set at 6 September 2025.

For the first year of the scholarship application, family income is taken into account in the final ranking.

For subsequent years, the renewal of the scholarship also depends on academic performance.

Results and final ranking

Provisional rankings are usually approved every year by the end of September. Final rankings are generally approved every year by the end of November.

The outcome of the competition for the granting of benefits will be made known to all interested parties by means of the publication of an appropriate notice on www.dsu.toscana.it and will be available in the student’s reserved area.

No personal communication will be sent to students submitting applications.

For doctoral students and postgraduate students, the provisional ranking is published by mid-December and the final ranking by mid-January.

Incompatibility

DSU scholarship recipients may also benefit from the merit scholarships awarded by the University of Pisa, but only for the first year when the amount does not exceed €6,000.
