Carlo Cantile graduated as Dr. Med. Vet. at the University of Pisa, Italy in 1988.
He received a post-graduate diploma in Food Hygiene and Veterinary Pathology in 1991 and post-graduate training in veterinary neuropathology in Switzerland and the USA.
He is Full Professor in Anatomic Pathology and Autopsy and he is responsible for the necropsy service at the Department of Veterinary Science, University of Pisa, Italy.
He trained several post-doctoral students and residents for the European College of Veterinary Neurology. His main area of research is the pathology of central and peripheral nervous systems and muscle pathology of domestic animals. Invited for national and international presentations and courses, he is the author of over 90 peer-reviewed publications in veterinary neuropathology; author of the chapter Nervous System of the 6th and 7th edition of the reference book Jubb, Kennedy & Palmer, Pathology of Domestic Animals; referee of several international scientific journals; and editorial adviser of the Journal of Comparative Pathology since 2008.
