Gianmarco Vignozzi is an Assistant Professor (Rtd-B) in English Language and Translation (L-LIN/12) at the Department of Philology, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Pisa, where he teaches Legal English at the Department of Law.

He obtained, with honors, a BA (2012) and an MA (2015) in Foreign Modern Languages and Literature (English and French) from the University of Pisa. He then specialized in English Language and Translation and was awarded a Ph.D. (2019) in English language and translation from the same University. During his Ph.D., he was a Visiting Junior Scholar at the Department of Linguistics of the University of Sydney (Australia), where he carried out part of his Ph.D. research. In the same period, he also attended a Summer School in corpus linguistics at the University of Lancaster. After obtaining his doctoral degree, he continued his research at the University of Pisa, from which he won a post-doc fellowship (2019-2020) centred on the study of the potential of multimodal texts for teaching specialized English.

His research areas range from the corpus-assisted analysis of English for specialized purposes (ESP), especially in the political and legal domain, to audiovisual translation and multimodal text analysis. On these issues, he has published several articles in national and international scientific journals (e.g. Textus, Status Quaestionis, Lingue e Linguaggi) and two monographs: one on the language of political interviews (Cambridge scholars, 2019) and another on the use of formulaic language in Disney movies (Odoya, 2019). Most recently, he has been working on the representation of spontaneous language in English original and Italian dubbed films vis-à-vis their remakes, and on the popularization of specialized knowledge through multimodal texts.

Since 2018, he has been teaching university modules in English Language and Translation, especially of English for Special Purposes (Legal English, English for Tourism and English for Logistics).
