The Summer School of Archaeology in Abruzzo is a two-week academic programme organised by the University of Pisa in collaboration with the Superintendence for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Abruzzo. The Summer School provides intensive,cross-disciplinary training through lectures, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork, including excavation activities at a Neolithic site. By the end of the programme, students will have acquired a solid foundation of knowledge and practical skills to support their future professional development in archaeology.
The number of participants at the Schools is limited, and registrations will be accepted until there are available seats.
The Summer School will be activated with at least 5 students. The maximum number of participants is set to 10 students.
The Summer School will be held on campus in Lecce nei Marsi (AQ), Piazza Monumento, 1.
The programme aims to provide participants with rigorous and up-to-date training inmodern archaeological investigation, with a focus on methodological approaches, field and laboratory practices, data management, and the analysis of archaeological materials (including ceramics, lithics, and other artefact categories), framed within anoverview of European archaeology and a particular emphasis on Italian archaeology.
BA students, MA students, PhD candidates/doctoral researchers, postdoctoralresearchers and early-career academics, and heritage professionals/fieldarchaeologists interested in hands-on training and methodological updates
The programme is open to applicants who are currently enrolled in, or havecompleted, a degree in Archaeology, History, Anthropology, or Applied Sciences forArchaeology (or closely related fields).
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of academic background and motivation.
