Silvia Zago è docente di Egittologia presso il Dipartimento di Archeologia, Civiltà Classiche ed Egittologia dellUniversità di Liverpool e coordinatrice del Liverpool Schools Classics Project. Ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Civiltà del Vicino e Medio Oriente (Egittologia) allUniversità di Toronto, dove ha anche insegnato la storia dellantico Egitto e la lingua egiziana classica (Medio Egiziano) per diversi anni. Ha inoltre conseguito la Laurea Magistrale in Lingue e Culture del Vicino e Medio Oriente (Egittologia) allUniversità di Pisa e la Laurea Triennale in Conservazione dei Beni Culturali (Archeologia del Vicino Oriente) allUniversità Ca Foscari di Venezia. É autrice di numerose pubblicazioni scientifiche e ha partecipato a diversi convegni internazionali. Nel 2021 è stata eletta membro della Royal Historical Society di Londra nel 2021, e dal 2023 è membro della Higher Education Academy (Accademia di Formazione Superiore) del Regno Unito.
Silvia è specializzata nella religione e testi funerari dellantico Egitto, e in particolare levoluzione nel tempo dei concetti dellaldilà, argomento su cui ha appena pubblicato la monografia A Journey through the Beyond: The Development of the Concept of Duat and Related Cosmological Notions in Egyptian Funerary Literature (Columbus: Lockwood Press, 2022). La sua ricerca include anche le pratiche magiche e rituali, la concettualizzazione e luso dei paesaggi sacri nellantico Egitto, e i contatti interculturali e la trasmissione del sapere nellEgitto Greco-Romano.
Silvia Zago is a Lecturer in Egyptology in the Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology of the University of Liverpool and the coordinator of the Liverpool Schools Classics Project. She obtained her PhD in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations (Egyptology) from the University of Toronto, where she also taught ancient Egyptian history and Middle Egyptian for several years. She moreover holds an MA in Languages and Cultures of the Near and Middle East (Egyptology) from the University of Pisa and a BA in Heritage Studies (Near Eastern Archaeology) from Ca' Foscari University of Venice. She is the author of several peer-reviewed publications and has participated in numerous international conferences. She was appointed Member of the Royal Historical Society (London) in 2021, and in 2023 she became a Fellow of the United Kingdom Higher Education Academy.
Silvia specialises in ancient Egyptian religion and afterlife texts, and in particular the evolution of the concepts of the otherworld over time, on which she just published her monograph A Journey through the Beyond: The Development of the Concept of Duat and Related Cosmological Notions in Egyptian Funerary Literature (Columbus: Lockwood Press, 2022). Her research also encompasses magic and ritual practices, the conceptualisation and use of Egyptian sacred landscapes, and cross-cultural interconnections and transmission of knowledge in Graeco-Roman Egypt.
