Sabrina Sarrocco

She graduated (cum laude) in Biological Sciences at the University of Rome (1998), obtained her specialization in Plant Biotechnologies (2000) and the PhD in Sciences of Plant Production (2004) at the University of Pisa (UNIPISA). She won the “AISSA prize” for the best PhD thesis. From 2018 she is "Accademico Aggregato" at the Accademia dei Georgofili (Firenze, Italy) and from 2023 Member of the Plant disease management Advisory Committee.
From 2006 to 2022 she was technician at the Plant Pathology Lab of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (DAFE) of the University of Pisa. From 2022 she is Associate Professor of Plant Pathology at DAFE (University of Pisa). Vice-President for the Master Course in "Plant and Microbial Biotechnologies (2022-2023) and from 2022 Coordinator for Internationalization (CAI) at DAFE.
She was visiting researcher at the: University of Copenhagen, Denmark (2002, 2003 and 2016); University of Vienna, Austria (2010); University of Paris Saclay, France (2018). She was lecturer in "Biopesticides" at the University of Paris Saclay (2018) and at the University of San Paolo, Brazil (2019).
Her scientific interest mainly concerns the biology, ecology and secondary metabolism of Trichoderma spp. as biological control agent against fungal plant pathogens; genetic transformation of fungal isolates; ecology of plant pathogens, particularly FHB mycotoxigenic causal agents and Colletotrichum spp.
From 2021 she is member of the International Project “Trichoderma Whole Genus Genomics” [US Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute’s Community Sequencing Program (CSP)].
She is author of more than 80 scientific papers on indexed journals, more than 100 contributions to national and international conferences and book chapters, all dealing with plant pathology, biological control of plant diseases and fungal molecular biology.
She is Senior EWditor of the Journal of Plant Pathology (from 2024) and of Phytopathology (2020-2023); Associate Editor of several indexed journals concerning Plant Pathology and Mycology.
She was the Secretary-treasurer (2014-2016)and Member of the Executive Board (2020-2023) of the Italian Phytopathological Society (SIPaV).
