Patrizio Dazzi

Patrizio Dazzi received his B.Sc. degree in computer science and his M.Sc. in computer technologies, focusing on computer systems and networks, from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2003 and 2004, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, Italy, in 2008. His research primarily targets scalable and high-performance distributed systems, with a longstanding focus on decentralized management of computations and data. Contributions span parallel and grid programming, cloud resource management and scheduling, distributed graph and stream processing, and edge/compute-continuum systems. Current interests include adaptive resource allocation and workload placement across heterogeneous infrastructures, serverless computing for HPC and AI, decentralized learning and emerging networked AI-agent systems. He is Associate Professor at the University of Pisa and Co-Founder and Co-Leader of the Pervasive AI Laboratory, a joint initiative between the University of Pisa and the National Research Council of Italy. He has a long history with the National Research Council of Italy, where he was a permanent researcher in the High-Performance Computing Laboratory for 17 years. Patrizio Dazzi has served as the Scientific Coordinator of the EU-South Korea H2020 BASMATI project, Project Coordinator for the EU H2020 ACCORDION Project, and Innovation Coordinator for the EU H2020 TEACHING Project. He has coauthored approximately 180 papers in international journals and conferences on topics related to High-Performance Distributed Systems. Additionally, he has coauthored the book "Cloud Broker and Cloudlet for Workflow Scheduling" (Springer). He has been an active program committee member for numerous conferences in the field of large, distributed systems, including IEEE ICDCS, IEEE CLOUD, ACM SoCC, EuroPar, ACM SIGKDD, ACM WSDM, and IEEE HPCS. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the IEEE Technical Committee onCloud Computing. His notable roles include Program Co-chair for ParCo 2017 and the IEEE International Conference on JointCloud Computing 2023, as well as General Co-chair for the ACM High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Conference 2024. Patrizio Dazzi is part of the editorial board of ETRI Journal (Elsevier) and Springer Computing. He is also serving as Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Networked and Distributed Computing (Springer Nature).
