Scientific Activity:
Dr. Natale Perchiazzi actively collaborates in multidisciplinary research projects conducted with international research groups. The main research fields are:
- Structural and crystallochemical studies of minerals and synthetic materials,
- Rietveld quantitative analysis of polyphasic mixtures,
- Mineralogy of the carbonatic fraction of sediments and speleothemes,
- Crystal chemistry and phase transitions in carbonates of the malachite-rosasite group,
- Crystal structural studies of Pb and As minerals,
- Minerals fibres and asbestos,
- Zeolites
The methodologies employed are the X-ray diffraction, both from single crystal and from powders, coordinated with studies in SEM/FESEM electron microscopy, microprobe, Raman spectroscopic investigations. Particular attention is payed to the application of the Rietveld method in the fields of the ab-initio structural solution, refinement of structural models and quantitative mineralogical analysis; these studies are conducted using both data collected on laboratory instruments and from synchrotron and neutron light sources.
