Maura Benegiamo

I am a researcher in Sociology of Economic and labour processes (SPS/09).
Since 2012 I have collaborated on research projects and conducted fieldwork in Southern Europe, ‎Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa on the topics of extractivism, land and environmental struggles, ‎agricultural development policies and global agro-industry supply chains. From 2014 to 2016 I was a 16-month visiting researcher at the École Des Hautes Études en Sciences ‎Sociale in Paris and in 2018 I won a post-doctoral research fellowship from the Collège d'Études ‎Mondiales - Fondation Maison de l’Homme. I have collaborated as a research fellow with the ‎Universities of Milano Bicocca, Trieste and Pisa. I am co-editor of the Political Ecology series for the ‎Orthotes publisher and a member of the editorial board of the Ecorev Journal. I am part of the Politics-‎Ontology-Ecology network (POE) and of the World-Ecology Network.
My research interests include political and decolonial ecology, green capitalism and value theories. My ‎current research projects and topics include digital agriculture, biocapitalism and the impact of emerging ‎techno-scientific innovations on labour and risk governance in the agribusiness sector. My research ‎questions are rooted in a theoretical analysis of the neoliberal transformation of the value-nature nexus ‎in the context of the environmental crisis.
