Mario Milazzo is Associate Professor in the field of "Science and Technology of Materials" (Italian classification IMAT-01/A - ING-IND/22) at the University of Pisa since March 1, 2025. Milazzo graduated with honors in 2010 in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pisa (Pisa, Italy), and received the Ph.D. in BioRobotics in 2016 at the BioRobotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy), working in the fields of material design, biomaterials, and micro-prosthetics. His research interests cover a wide range of fields: science and technology of (bio)materials, multiscale modeling of (bio)materials and industrial devices, acoustic mechanics, mechatronics, and industrial robotics. Milazzo has worked as a Visiting Scientist at Columbia University (New York, NY, USA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA, USA), and Tufts University (Medford, MA, USA). Milazzo was the recipient of a three-year individual Marie Skłodowska Curie fellowship (MSCA-IF-GF) in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), University of Antwerp (Belgium), Tufts University (USA), Massachusetts Eye & Ear (USA), and the University of Pisa (Italy). Milazzo is currently the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship to carry out research and teaching in the field of nanocomposite materials at Seton Hall University (USA). He is the co-author of 60+ contributions in international journals, 4 book chapters, 9 patents, and 60+ contributions to national/international conferences and workshops, also serving as an invited speaker and workshop organizer. In parallel with his academic activities, he has been involved, both as Project Manager and Team Leader, in various projects and collaborations with national and international companies (e.g., Baker Hughes, Brembo, Magneti Marelli, Piaggio).
