Research activity
Atomic, Molecular and Laser Physics: high-resolution laser spectroscopy of atoms (energy pooling collisions, avalanche ionization) and small molecules; ultra-precise measurement of the Rydberg constant; optical control of the internal degrees of freedom of ultracold molecules; development of multiple gyrolasers to measure underground the consequences of the rotation of the Earth relative to the absolute space of Newton, (frame dragging and gravito-magnetism effects of general relativity).
Condensed Matter Physics/Nanophysics: pulsed laser ablation, light emitting materials and devices, micro-cavities and nanostructures, photoluminescence, carbon nanotubes, ferroelectric materials and phenomena, scanning probe microscopy (AFM, SNOM with particular contrast mechanisms), nanolithography through laser cooled atom beams, near-field nanowriting, nano-optics, nano-photonics, nano-plasmonics, quantum technologies.

Publications
Over 330 articles in peer-reviewed journals, about 300 contributions (including invited talks) to international conferences, 3 textbooks, 2 patents (ISI-WoS h=35, >4800 citations). Invited seminar speaker by prestigious institutions in various countries.
