Researcher at Department of Veterinary Science of the University of Pisa. Sector: 07/G1 – Science and Animal Technologies; Scientific Sector: AGR/19 - Special Animal Husbandry;
The scientific activity is mainly addressed to dairy animal species, with particular reference to ruminants. He has carried out studies on the productive variability of the farms, by evaluation of the milk yield and quality, and by assessing zoometric measures and evaluation.
She has carried out also feeding trial on small ruminants and at the same time has been involved in researches concerning the characterization of native populations, evaluating their morphological and functional characteristics to identify their breeding conditions and the possibility of technical and economic valorization. Furthermore, the quality characteristics of milk have been studied, with particular reference to lipid fraction and nutraceutical characteristics. The relationship among the physico-chemical characteristics of the fat globule in cow, buffalo, sheep, goat and donkey milk and the endogenous, physiological and exogenous parameters of variability have been investigated. Since 2015 she has been actively collaborating with the “Complesso Agricolo Regionale Forestale Bandite di Scarlino” for the zootechnical and productive management of a dairy donkey farm.
Member of: Interdepartmental Centre of Agro-Ecological Research CIRAA, University of Pisa;
Currently, she collaborates with Pediatric Hospital Meyer Department of Allergy (DAIPI), Regional and Extraregional Reference Center for Allergic Diseases on the project “Use of milk from Amiatina Donkey breed in children with allergy to cow's milk proteins: innovative, clinical, nutritional aspects”
Referee of scientific papers for international journals and co-author of about 90 publications.
