Dario Trevisan is Full Professor of Probability and Mathematical Statistics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Pisa (UNIPI), where he has been on the faculty since 2015 (Assistant, then Tenured Researcher, Associate Professor, and since October 2024 Full Professor). His research lies at the interface of stochastic analysis, optimal transport and geometric measure theory, with applications to quantum information, combinatorial optimisation and, more recently, machine learning theory.

He obtained his PhD in Mathematics from Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in 2014 (70/70 cum laude; supervisors L. Ambrosio and M. Pratelli). He has authored over 40 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, including Annales Henri Poincaré, Journal of Functional Analysis, Probability Theory and Related Fields, Communications in Mathematical Physics, Machine Learning and IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. His work has been recognised by the Guido Fubini Prize 2021 (Mathesis) for “Probability and its role in analysis and mathematical physics” and the Bruno de Finetti Prize (A series) 2025 (UMI) for “Probability and its applications”.

Trevisan is active in several national and international research projects (PRIN 2022 “LeQun”, FAIR, SPOKE 10 “HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing”, SPOKE 1 “Human-centered AI”, Galileo project on variational methods, GNAMPA-INdAM projects) and has been co-organiser of major scientific events, including the IPAM Thematic Program “Non-commutative Optimal Transport” (Los Angeles, 2025) and the INdAM Workshop “Quantum Optimal Transport and Applications” (Cortona, 2024).

He is currently Area Coordinator for Internationalization at the UNIPI Department of Mathematics, member of the PhD boards in Mathematics and in High-Performance Scientific Computing, and editor of the Springer journal “Nonlinear Analysis”. He has extensive teaching experience at all university levels in mathematics, engineering, computer science and chemistry programmes, and has supervised numerous Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and one PhD student. ORCID: 0000-0002-4563-5638; Scopus ID: 55661914000; WoS ResearcherID: ABG-6151-2021.
