Claudio Gallicchio is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer
Science, University of Pisa, where he leads the research line on Neural
Dynamics and Neuromorphic AI within the Computational Intelligence & Machine
Learning Group (CIML), supervising PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and
research fellows.

He is Principal Investigator of the University of Pisa unit of MINDnet
(Neuromorphic Computing and Signal Processing Training Network), an MSCA
Doctoral Network funded by Horizon Europe (Grant Agreement 101226674,
2026-2029), and Principal Investigator of the University of Pisa unit of the
Horizon Europe project ADA-COLLAB. He was Principal Investigator and Project
Coordinator of NEURONE (Extremely efficient NEUromorphic Reservoir cOmputing
in Nanowire network hardwarE), funded by the Italian Ministry of University
and Research under PRIN 2022 (project code 20229JRTZA), with Politecnico di
Torino and INRiM as partners. He leads Work Package 4 of the EIC Pathfinder
project EMERGE (Grant Agreement 101070918), led Work Package 4 of the H2020
project TEACHING (Grant Agreement 871385), and leads Work Package 2 of the
RELAY project funded by the Research Council of Norway (Grant Agreement
345017). He is also Principal Investigator of industrial research contracts
with Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche SpA and Silvretta Research Inc. (USA).

He received the Laurea degree in Computer Science from the University of Bari,
Italy, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University
of Pisa, Italy, in 2011. His research interests include machine learning, deep
learning, recurrent and recursive neural networks, reservoir computing,
dynamical neural models, deep learning for graphs, and neuromorphic computing
for AI, with applications to sensor networks, robotics, human activity
recognition, industrial process modelling and smart grids.

He is Founder and Chair of the IEEE CIS Task Force on Randomization-Based
Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and Founder and Chair (2018-2022) of the
IEEE CIS Task Force on Reservoir Computing. He is Associate Editor of the IEEE
Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems and a member of the
faculty board of the Italian National PhD Programme in Artificial
Intelligence. He has co-authored more than 150 papers in international
journals and conference proceedings.
