I am a scholar with a strong international profile, specializing in the history of Early Modern Italy, and in particular the Venetian Republic. After earning a PhD in Early Modern History with highest honors from the University of Trieste, I carried out research and teaching activities at prestigious academic institutions, including Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University, the University of York, and the University of Graz. I have been awarded major competitive grants, such as the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Royal Irish Academy Charlemont Research Grant, and I am currently leading a research project funded by the Young Researchers 2024 – MSCA line program.

My research focuses on the relationship between criminal justice and interpersonal violence, as well as the political and social history of godparenthood. I have published articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to edited volumes, along with a monograph on the Venetian patriciate and criminal justice in the sixteenth century. My interests also extend to the study of mechanisms of social pacification, jurisdictional conflicts, and extradition practices across Europe, with particular attention to the intersections between law, politics, and the culture of violence.
