Alessandro Antonio Quarta

Alessandro A. Quarta ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Ingegneria Aerospaziale, presso l'Università di Pisa, nel marzo 2005. Attualmente è Professore Ordinario di Meccanica del Volo (Area 09, settore IIND-01/C) presso di Dipartimento d'Ingegneria Civile ed Industriale dell'Università di Pisa. Dal 2012 è titolare dell'insegnamento "Meccanica del Volo" al primo anno del Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Aerospaziale. Il campo di ricerca riguarda principalmente: la simulazione del volo, l'analisi e la progettazione di missioni spaziali, l'ottimizzazione di traiettorie a bassa-spinta, la dinamica e controllo di veicoli spaziali con particolare attenzione alle vele solari ed alle vele elettriche. Alessandro A. Quarta è associate editor della rivista indicizzata Astrodynamics (E-ISSN 2522-0098) ed è associate fellow dell'American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

Alessandro A. Quarta earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Pisa in March 2005. He is currently Full Professor of Flight Mechanics (Area 09, sector IIND-01/C) at the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering of the University of Pisa. Since 2012, he has been teaching "Flight Mechanics" in the first year of the Master's Degree Program in Aerospace Engineering. His research focuses mainly on: spaceflight simulation, analysis and design of space missions, low-thrust trajectory optimization, dynamics and control of spacecraft with particular attention to solar sails and electric sails.
