Second Cycle – Master’s or Second Degree and First-Level Postgraduate Courses

EU and non-EU citizens who have obtained their qualifications in Italy enrol in accordance with standard procedures for Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle Degree Courses, for Master’s Degree Courses, for Post-graduate Degree Courses and for Specialty Schools.

Citizens of the European Union and the Schengen Area must follow the procedures shown below.
Are treated as EU citizens for enrolling also Non-EU citizens holders of one of the residence permits (not the post office receipt) hereby listed:
- EU long-term residents
- for employment
- for self-employment
- for family reasons
- for asylum (different from the one called “richiesta asilo” and valid 5 years)
- for subsidiary protection
- other types of permits as referred to in Article 39 (5) of Legislative Decree 286/1998
If you hold a valid, not expired, study residence permit, it is necessary to check also your entry visa, if fine or not to be treated as EU citizen, and it must be a continuation of studies.
Also treated as EU citizens for enrolling are:
- non EU citizens who have been resident in Italy for at least one year and have an upper secondary school qualification obtained in Italy
- non EU foreigners, wherever they reside, who hold final diplomas from Italian schools abroad or from foreign or international schools operating in Italy or abroad that are the subject of bilateral agreements or special regulations for the recognition of qualifications and meet the general conditions required for entry for study
Non-EU citizens applying for a visa must pre-register for a degree course on the UniversItaly Portal. Only after getting on Universitaly the Summary they can apply for a study visa.
For enrolment in its courses, the University of Pisa requires proof of Italian language proficiency.

Pre-University Schooling
To enrol at the University of Pisa, it is necessary to have completed at least 12 years of schooling overall, including primary school, lower secondary school (if applicable), and high school.
Degrees must include at least the last two years of successful attendance in the foreign education system.
