The Italian university system is structured in three cycles:
First Cycle – Bachelor’s Degree Courses
Second Cycle – Master’s or Second Degree and First-Level Postgraduate Courses
Third cycle – PhD Programmes, Specialisation and Second-Level Postgraduate Courses
EU and non-EU citizens who have obtained their qualifications in Italy enrol in accordance with standard procedures for Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle Degree Courses, for Master’s Degree Courses, for Post-graduate Degree Courses and for Specialty Schools.

If you hold a valid, not expired, study residence permit, it is necessary to check also your entry visa, if fine or not to be treated as EU citizen, and it must be a continuation of studies.

Non-EU citizens applying for a visa must pre-register for a degree course on the UniversItaly Portal. Only after getting on Universitaly the Summary they can apply for a study visa.
For enrolment in its courses, the University of Pisa requires proof of Italian language proficiency.

Italian citizens who have obtained their academic qualifications abroad must follow the procedures described on the following pages.
To enrol at the University of Pisa, it is necessary to have completed at least 12 years of schooling overall, including primary school, lower secondary school (if applicable), and high school.
Degrees must include at least the last two years of successful attendance in the foreign education system.
