Federico Niccolini is Associate Professor of Organizational Science at the Department of Political Science University of Pisa (Italy).
Since 2007, he is affiliated with the Department of Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism at the Colorado State University (USA).
2010-2015: Associate Professor of Organizational Theory and Behavior, Department of Economics and Law, University of Macerata
2005-2010: Researcher, Organizational Science, Faculty of Economics of the University of Macerata
2011-2016: member of the School Committee and supervisor of doctoral students in the PhD Program in Economics and Management at the University of Macerata
2017-today: member of the School Committee and supervisor of doctoral students in the PhD Program in Business Economics and Management at the University of Pisa
2007 - 2011: member of the Scientific Committee and supervisor of doctoral students in the Ph.D. in Planning and Control at the University of Macerata

2006 - present: coordinator of the module of management and organization in the Master in "Planning and Management of Protected Areas" of the University of Camerino
His research interests are focused on protected areas management and organization, organizational dynamics related to sustainable development and sustainable tourism, organizational vision, learning and culture.
He has been visiting scholar or professor at Universities in United States, including Stanford, Albany, Paul Smith College of the Adirondacks.
Niccolini coordinated several national and international (including EU funded) projects and working groups, particularly regarding protected areas management and socio-economical sustainable development plans.
He also worked for numerous Italian protected areas, including the US National Park Service (2001-2005), Abruzzo National Park; Migliarino - San Rossore - Massaciuccoli – Regional Park; Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area and Asinara National Park.
He participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program sponsored by the US Department of State – Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Since 1999, Niccolini is a member of the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
