Double Degree Programme with École Pratique des Hautes Études – Université PSL (France)

Starting from the academic year 2022/2023, the Master’s Degree Course in History and Civilisations at the University of Pisa has established a Double Degree Programme with the École Pratique des Hautes Études – Université PSL for the course “Master en Civilisations, Cultures et Sociétés”.

Students enrolled in the Master’s Degree Course in History and Civilisations who wish to obtain the double degree must complete 60 credits (CFUs) at the University of Pisa and 60 ECTS credits in Paris.

Applications may be submitted by students enrolled in the first year of the Master’s Degree Course in History and Civilisations who have earned at least 30 credits by the end of the spring session. The remaining 30 credits must be completed before departure, in September of the same year.

To complete the programme, students must earn 60 ECTS credits at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE) – including credits concerning the internship and Master’s Degree thesis – by September of the following year.

The thesis may be written either in the language of the home country or in that of the host country, under the joint supervision of a primary and a secondary supervisor. A substantial summary must be written in both French and Italian. One single thesis defence may take place at either the home or host university, and both supervisors will be members of the examination committee.
