1) How do I apply to sit the State Examination?

3) When is the application deadline and when are the tests held?
Each year the Ministry of Education and Research issues a ministerial order setting the nationwide deadlines for applications and the dates of the first tests. In general:
After the ministerial order is issued, each university publishes a specific notice for every profession.
4) What is the regional licensing fee and how is it calculated?
This is a fee payable to the Region where you obtained your degree. The amount varies by Region. Since 1 January 2013, the fee has been abolished for graduates of universities in the Tuscany Region. Graduates from other Regions should contact their home university to confirm the amount and payment method.
5) What topics are covered in the State Examination?
The examination assesses the candidate’s technical and practical competence in the relevant field. The specific regulations for each profession define the topics (e.g. DPR 328/2001, DPR 445/2001).
6) How are examination boards formed?
Boards are appointed annually by the Ministry on proposals from Department Directors and the relevant Professional Orders, which nominate members and Chairs. “Expert members” designated by the Chair may be added. Final board lists are published on the University website under “Laurea ed Esami di Stato”.
7) Where can I obtain the qualification certificate?
The certificate, upon completion of the examination session and administrative verification procedures:
For graduates who completed their degree before 2001, the issuance of the diploma or certificate requires payment of the regional tax (if not already paid).
8) How do I receive the Qualification Diploma?
No application is required. The Student Office – Diplomas will post it to the address shown in the Alice portal (www.studenti.unipi.it).

9) What should I do in case of an error, loss or damage to the degree diploma?

The form must be completed online in the personal area of the Alice portal (www.studenti.unipi.it).

13) Can I register for the Medicine and Surgery examination if I am pregnant or gave birth less than seven months ago?
