Students regularly enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Courses at the University of Pisa may apply for admission to attend one or more courses offered by the Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) for the academic year 2025/2026.
Consult the Notice published on the Scuola Normale Superiore website and fill in the online form for the SNS Class of your choice. Before applying, it is recommended to review the educational offer of both the Class of Sciences and the Class of Humanities and Philosophy on the SNS website.
For more information about the School’s educational offer, as well as logistical and organisational aspects of the courses, please contact the SNS offices at studenti.esterni@sns.it.
Applications will be assessed by the course lecturer. Only after receiving the official authorisation email from SNS confirming admission will students be able to proceed with the next steps.
Admitted students must register on the SNS Esse3 Web student platform (https://sns.esse3.cineca.it/) and comply with the same attendance, admission, and final examination requirements as SNS students.
At the end of the course, and following successful completion of the final examination (if applicable), the Scuola Normale Superiore will issue a certificate confirming attendance, exam results, and the university credits (CFUs) earned in the relevant academic field. Please refer to the “Certificazione Finale” section of the SNS Notice for further details.
Students from the University of Pisa (unless they are also enrolled at the SNS) may apply for the recognition of the credits earned at the SNS towards their degree. Applications for credit recognition must follow the standard procedure and include the SNS certificate of attendance and completion of the final examination, available for download from the SNS Esse3 Web platform. The request will be evaluated by the student’s degree course at the University of Pisa, based on the consistency of the SNS course with the student’s study plan (pursuant to Article 10, paragraph 5(a) of Ministerial Decree 270/2004). Unless a specific agreement between SNS and the student’s degree course exists, such credits will normally be recognised as elective credits in the study plan of the University of Pisa.
Please note that credit recognition is not automatically guaranteed and depends on the consistency between the SNS educational activities and the student’s degree course. It is therefore strongly recommended that students check in advance with the office of their degree course whether the SNS courses they wish to attend can be recognised among the credits valid for the award of the degree from the University of Pisa.
