General rules
- In the case of simultaneous enrolment in two Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Single-cycle Master’s degree courses, even at different universities or special institutes, the courses must not belong to the same degree class and must differ by at least two-thirds of their educational activities.
- For enrolment in two different courses, students must hold the required qualifications and meet the admission requirements established by national legislation, University regulations, and the regulations of each course.
- If one of the two courses requires compulsory attendance, students may only enrol in a second course that does not have attendance obligations, except for laboratory and traineeship activities.
- In the case of enrolment in two regulated-admission courses, the student must rank high enough in the admission lists of both courses.
Declarations for dual enrolments
- Students wishing to enrol in two courses must submit an annual declaration of dual enrolment.
- Enrolment at the University of Pisa: the declaration (dual enrolment registration form) must be submitted during the enrolment process for the second course, following the procedure for each type of course. The same declaration must also be submitted in the case of transfers from another university. Students enrolling in two Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree courses must upload the study plan of the first course (self-certification template provided).
- Renewal: the declaration (dual enrolment renewal form) must be submitted annually at the time of enrolment renewal via the Alice portal (“Segreteria” – “Doppia iscrizione/PA 110 e lode”).
- Enrolment at another university: students already enrolled at the University of Pisa must submit the declaration (enrolment at another university form) after completing the enrolment procedure at the other university. The declaration is submitted by logging into the reserved area of the Alice portal (“Segreteria” – “Doppia iscrizione/PA 110 e lode”). The declaration must be submitted only after completing enrolment at the other university and, in any case, it does not entail any communication from the University of Pisa to the institution concerned.
- If enrolled at two different universities, the declaration must be submitted to both institutions, following the procedures of each university
- The declaration must also be submitted during online procedures for course transfer or for admission to a Master’s Degree course.
Enrolment in a second course at the University of Pisa is only allowed if the student has settled all tuition fees for the first course.
Declarations will be verified in accordance with Ministerial Decree no. 930 of 29 July 2022. If the two courses are found to be incompatible under current legislation and the student has not formally withdrawn from the first course, the most recent enrolment will be cancelled for administrative irregularity, and any fees already paid will be refunded.
Right to Study
- Students enrolled in two courses must identify one as the “primary enrolment”. Student support benefits can only be requested for the primary course throughout the period of simultaneous enrolment. A student enrolled in the first course for more than one academic year cannot designate the second course as the primary one.
- To qualify for the 20% increase in scholarship benefits provided by dual enrolment legislation, students must maintain the required academic merit in both courses.
Annual comprehensive tuition fee
The annual comprehensive tuition fee is due for both courses and will be calculated separately based on the type of course and years of enrolment, in accordance with the University’s Student Contribution Regulations.
Students who meet the requirements may request full or partial exemption from the annual tuition fee for both courses.
If both courses are at universities based in Tuscany, the regional student tax is paid only once. However, students must pay two separate regional taxes if enrolled simultaneously at the University of Pisa and a university outside Tuscany. For students holding a DSU scholarship in Tuscany, the regional tax exemption also applies to the second enrolment, provided the scholarship is maintained.
