The postgraduate degree course in Religions, Esotericism and New Spiritualities: Evolutions and Perspectives offers a truly innovative training programme within the Italian academic landscape. The academic study of esotericism, which has gained recognition in recent decades—represented by only two academic chairs in Europe (Amsterdam and Paris)—relies on a historical-critical and comparative approach, which allows us to understand phenomena of great historical and social relevance that are often overlooked.

With a solid theoretical foundation, the postgraduate degree course focuses on the analysis of alternative sources and traditions from antiquity to the present day. Participants acquire interdisciplinary skills, with a particular focus on the transformation of beliefs and practices in the contemporary world, including AI-related developments. A key component of the programme is the study of the interconnections between esotericism, mysticism and psychoanalysis. The curriculum is characterised by scientific rigour and focuses on the analysis of religious phenomena and the in-depth understanding of their symbolic processes.

Career opportunities

The postgraduate degree course offers specialised training with career opportunities in ever-expanding sectors. In addition to providing qualifications for teaching and academic outreach, it prepares graduates to work in publishing, media production, and entertainment industry.

The skills acquired are also applicable in the healthcare sector: this postgraduate degree course trains students in mediation within therapeutic contexts, fostering an understanding of various spiritual approaches as part of the patient experience, with particular attention to end-of-life consultancy. In this context, the postgraduate degree course also examines the role of digital technologies and AI in developing tools for spiritual and memorial support.

Other career opportunities include consulting for museums and cultural foundations, managing religious pluralism, and supporting cultural tourism projects related to sites of spirituality and esoteric heritage.
