The postgraduate degree course offers advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of anaesthesia, analgesia, and intensive care of pets. The course will focus on three critical phases of patient management: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management.
In particular, the course will provide in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on the most advanced techniques in sedation and general anaesthesia, with a special focus on pain control methods through loco-regional anaesthesia techniques. Furthermore, the course will address the management of patients in the intensive care unit, including vascular access management, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and the haemodynamic and respiratory support of inpatients.
The course will also cover advanced patient monitoring techniques in anaesthesia, integrated with patient-specific anaesthetic approaches.
Career opportunities
Dogs, cats, and other non-traditional pets play a crucial role in society, often occupying an important place within the family unit. As a result, pet owners require care that meets appropriate and high-quality standards. Anaesthesia and intensive care are fundamental components of clinical practice for professionals working in veterinary facilities, and they are fields that require dedicated, specialised training.
Through adequate training, professionals will acquire the knowledge needed to effectively use anaesthesia and intensive care equipment, thereby minimising risks and enhancing procedural safety.
