The postgraduate degree course in Mass Casualties Management trains professionals to operate in natural disaster scenarios and large-scale emergencies, with the purpose of providing rescue and care to affected people. The training offers comprehensive cultural and operational insights into the following areas:   

  • the rescue chain: roles and tasks of the various rescue components     
  • guidelines for managing large scale emergencies and criteria for the design of emergency plans    
  • rescuer safety, self-protection and scene security     rescue methods and strategies according to the size of the event    
  • interrelation with other rescue actors    
  • rescue in hostile environments    
  • behavioural adaptation according to local customs and traditions     s
  • afety measures for rescuers in hostile environmental conditions    
  • situational management in conflict settings: scenarios and response protocols    
  • treatment and assessment of risk and its reduction techniques. 

Career opportunities

The postgraduate degree course is designed to train medical, paramedical and technical staff working in highly complex care environments (such as critical care medicine, emergency room, out-of-hospital care, mass emergency management, and military, maritime and civil protection).

  • 800 € no later than 15 April 2026

Registration fee reductions are available for 3 students as specified in the call for applications.
