We promote the dissemination of knowledge and support social transformation, contributing to the progress of both the community and the region
Project description
The PhD programme in Molecular Medicine is offered jointly by the Universities of Siena (administrative seat), Pisa and Florence, in collaboration with the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the National Research Council. The programme starts on 1 November 2024 and has a duration of three years.
The programme focuses on the study of genetic diseases, with particular attention to hereditary, metabolic and autoimmune disorders, cancer, and processes of cellular degeneration and regeneration. In collaboration with IFC-CNR, it combines basic research with the development of innovative therapeutic approaches in the context of predictive and personalised medicine.
Advanced molecular techniques and Big Data analysis are used to investigate pathogenetic mechanisms and test gene therapies on human cell models, also through technologies such as iPS cell generation and genome editing.
Pegaso scholarships, funded by the PR ESF 2021–2027 under the Giovanisì initiative of the Regione Toscana, are available.
