The PhD in Economics is jointly offered by the Universities of Siena, Pisa, and Florence. It is a three-year programme, with mandatory attendance, starting on 1 November 2024.
The programme adopts a pluralistic and multidisciplinary approach, integrating economics with the history of economic thought and incorporating perspectives from other disciplines such as law, psychology, neuroscience, and biology. Its aim is to train economists capable of working in research institutions, equipped with a broad and solid foundation in economics and social sciences.
This distinctive structure attracts a significant number of international students (approximately 40% of enrolled students).
Pegaso scholarships are available, funded through the PR FSE 2021–2027 programme, as part of the Giovanisì initiative promoted by the Regione Toscana.
