The University of Pisa offers a tutoring service to its students to help them in their university careers.
Peer tutoring
A peer tutor is a senior student who is available to provide information and help with any organisational and educational difficulties or concerns.
The tutor has been trained by psychologists of the University Counselling Centre and has received specific training from the representatives of the Department.
The peer tutor:
- acts as an intermediary between students and lecturers and/or offices;
- helps with organising your studies, planning your exams and finding teaching materials;
- organises and coordinates study groups in various disciplines;
- promotes the correct knowledge and use of the services offered by the University;
- simplifies administrative paperwork.
Welcome tutoring
Welcome tutoring is a service designed to help new students make the transition to university life.
Tutors:
- present the University and its services;
- reinforce the initial preparation;
- offer support in the study of new subjects, for example through group discussions, to further develop social skills and mutual knowledge.
