The objective of the Foundation is to establish and provide financial assistance in the form of prizes, scholarships and other benefits to students and graduates of the University of Pisa who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or financial need. This is to be achieved through the Foundation’s own initiatives and through participation in initiatives of third parties, organisations, public administrations and private entities.
To achieve its purpose, the Foundation may:
- take over the management of the assets of other (non-profit) foundations or organisations with similar objectives
- subject to agreement with the university, manage awards, with purposes corresponding to its own, existing in the university and relating to donations, inheritances and legacies made in favour of the university
- promote the collection of private and public funds to be used for its purposes;

The Foundation, which is headquartered in Pisa at Lungarno Pacinotti 43, was established by public deed (Repertory no. 5615 – Collection no. 2748 at the Notary C. Calderoni in Pisa), and was duly registered at the Revenue Office on 2 January 2009.
