Self-Certifications and Certificates for Post-degree Programmes (PhD courses, Postgraduate courses, Specialisation Schools, Teacher Training)

Self-Certifications

Certificates cannot be submitted to public administrations or providers of public services. Certificates issued by public administrations are valid and may be used only in relations between private individuals. Public administrations and providers of public services cannot request or accept certificates. Therefore, every certificate will bear the following statement:
“This certificate cannot be submitted to public administrations or to private entities managing public services.”

If you need to certify acts or facts relating to your university career to public administrations or to private entities providing public services, you must submit substitute declarations (self-certifications, as provided by Art. 40 of Presidential Decree No. 445 of 28 December 2000 and Art. 15 of Law No. 183 of 12 November 2011*). The receiving administration is entitled to verify the accuracy of the declarations. Self-certifications are exempt from stamp duty.
False declarations are subject to criminal penalties (under Art. 76 of Presidential Decree 445/2000) and to the forfeiture of any benefits obtained through them.

Printing Self-Certifications or Certain Types of Certificates via the Alice portal

To make the preparation of self-certifications easier, the University provides an automatic generation system.
Through the reserved area of the Alice portal under “Certificati” in the “Segreteria” menu, you can print various types of self-certifications.

If you cannot use self-certification and require a certificate on plain paper, access the same section (“Certificati” → “Segreteria”) to download the document you need. To print a certificate confirming the award of a degree, select “Laurea”. The portal lists the types of certificate available.

Stamp Duty

Certificates are exempt from stamp duty if requested for purposes provided for by current legislation (Presidential Decree 642/1972, Annex B). All other certificates are subject to stamp duty.
