Part-time student status

Students enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree, a Single-cycle Master’s Degree, or a Master’s Degree course at the University of Pisa may apply for part-time student status. In this case, the study programme lasts longer than the standard duration of the course.

Part-time student status is granted for two academic years. Renewal for subsequent years is subject to a new application by the student and the regulations in force at that time.

Fees

Part-time students must pay the regional tax and 60% of the annual all-inclusive contribution.
If you apply for a fee reduction by 31 October 2025 (or by 16 February 2026 with a late fee), the 60% contribution will be calculated according to your ISEE income bracket.
Any late fees or administrative charges, if applicable, are applied in full (100%).
Even if you wish to apply for part-time student status, you must first enrol for academic year 2025/2026 by paying the first instalment. The amounts due will be recalculated for subsequent instalments: if the recalculated fee is lower than the first instalment paid, the University will automatically refund the difference.

How and when to apply

Applications can be submitted between 24 July and 31 December 2025 by logging into the reserved area of http://tempoparziale.adm.unipi.it/ with your Alice portal credentials.
You must first enrol or renew your enrolment for academic year 2025/2026.

You cannot apply if you are under disciplinary sanctions and enrolled:

Recognition of part-time student status will be communicated after 31 December 2025.

Ranking

The ranking list is drawn up in descending order of ISEE income. Priority is given to students applying for one of the reasons listed above. In the case of equal scores, the younger applicant prevails.
In the event of a tie, the youngest player prevails.

Incompatibilities

You cannot obtain part-time student status if you:

Part-time student status is also incompatible with merit-based benefits, benefits for students over 50, benefits for students with specific learning disabilities (SLD), benefits for students with a disability between 45% and 65%, and with certain fixed contributions.
In these cases, you must choose either the relevant benefit or part-time student status.

You will automatically return to full-time status (and must pay the outstanding 40% contribution plus a EUR 200 administrative penalty) if you:
